Official: Dry year won't strain city water supplyAquifer will likely support Central Oregon through drought

Recent drought-like conditions - though worrisome for irrigators - shouldn't strain municipal water supplies, officials said.

The reason is Central Oregon's aquifer.

Precipitation has hit only 54 percent of normal for the year, according to the National Resources Conservation Service Web site.....
