District won't fill five teaching vacancies to offset $1.9 million budget shortfall

A proposal to cut five teaching positions to deal with a $1.9 million budget shortfall was scrapped Monday by the Jefferson County School Board.

The cut was unnecessary due to some recent, unexpected resignations, said Gail Stone, business department supervisor for the district.
