I grew up in a small, rural community in Iowa. In 1931, a sparkler dropped in a drugstore fireworks display started a fire that destroyed 50 downtown stores. Two million dollars' worth of damage was caused before the fire was extinguished. It led the Legislature to change fireworks laws in Iowa.....
