Central Oregonians will likely escape a repeat of 2004's New Year's Day snowstorm, according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

A snow advisory issued by the weather service calls for 4 inches to 7 inches of snow by this evening, replacing a heavy snow warning with initial estimates....
