While working as the soundman for a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., nightclub during the late 1970s and early '80s, guitarist J.R. Sims met some of the biggest names in blues.

One of those, Chicago guitarist and blues legend Buddy Guy, left the aspiring Sims with more than sound advice.
