REDMOND - Ryan Fresh put out chips and dip, cookies and eggnog, and waited for his guests.

The tree was trimmed. Christmas lights twinkled over the door and down the hallway. He was ready for the yearly ritual of exchanging Christmas tree ornaments and having a small party with his guests.
