Seven local youngsters ready to compete in national junior finals

Sherry Hamlin remembers watching her son, Nathan, then 9, get bucked off a steer. It stepped on him, collapsing the Prineville boy's lung. It was only his fifth rodeo.

"I screamed," Hamlin remembers. "It was all I could do not to go over when Nathan got hurt."
