In a minute, 22-month-old Jonathon Sanchez vanished.

At 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, his mother, Carmen Maria Valdez Sanchez, began scouring the Country Sunset Mobile Home Park in Bend for her young son, she said.

She didn't think to look in the Central Oregon Irrigation District canal about 50 feet....
