Downtown might use debit card system

The days of free parking in downtown Bend may be numbered.

But don't expect to see rows of parking meters, either.

Under a plan being considered by the city's parking advisory committee, downtown visitors would pay for parking using an automated system and parking debit cards as soon as next....
