Controlled burn near Sunriver today

100 to 200 acres ignited at noon

Firefighters plan to burn 100 to 200 acres 10 miles east of Sunriver in the Deschutes National Forest to improve the health and resiliency of Ponderosa pine stands. The burn began at noon today.

They plan to conduct controlled burns on sunny south-facing slopes near Fuzztail Butte while warm....
