Crucial police services hang in the balance

Outcome of May 18 vote may leave sheriff with less than half of budget

If the Deschutes County Sheriff's levy fails on May 18, deputies will not be responding to assaults and burglaries in unincorporated parts of the county.

Moreover, there will be no routine patrols of deputies. That's because the number of patrol officers will drop from 57 to zero.
