I took a drive with Ed Abbey this weekend.

So naturally, we pointed east, choosing hard pan over snow - washed out, earth-tone, mono-chromatic rimrock over the hospitable greens and whites and blues of the Cascades.

Abbey died 15 years ago last Sunday.

I wasn't a friend of Cactus Ed's, never....
