Lack of jobs, housing costs are driving people away

When Dieter Hienzer of Bend was laid off from his job as a software engineer manager at Orcom last month, he wasn't optimistic about finding a comparable job in Bend.

Orcom was acquired by Dallas-based Alliance Data Systems last December.
