Sure, the dash from the house to the car seems extra painful when the temperature drops. But remember: It could be worse.

Back in 1974, the temperature in Bend fell to a record low of minus 10 degrees on Jan. 5. Last night, temperatures were expected to hover between 1 degree and 5 degrees.
