Housing continues to surge in Bend despite higher interest rates

The number of residential housing permits issued in Bend rose 19 percent in August compared with the previous August despite rising mortgage interest rates scaring off some building nationwide. In August 118 permits were issued in Bend compared with 99 a year ago.
