Local swimmer dies in accident

Jay Rowan drowns in Deschutes River

On a day when local youth swimmers competed to be champions at the Juniper Swim & Fitness Center's annual Bend Open, Deschutes County lost one of its most respected high school swimming champions in an accident on Saturday in the Deschutes River.
