Family of three escape burning home just before ceiling collapses

A family of three escaped a burning home on Awbrey Butte early Sunday morning, but two family pets, a dog and a cat, perished in the fire.

Officials estimate the blaze caused about $350,000 damage, according to a news release from Bend Fire Marshal Gary Marshall.
