REDMOND - Times were tough when 17-year-old Henry Tiano joined the Army National Guard in Kingston, N.Y., in 1938.

Tiano, 81, of Redmond is among the diminishing number of the 16.35 million U.S. soldiers, sailors and airmen remembered each Memorial Day who served their country in World War II.....
