Insurance fees make obstetrics bad for business

Dr. Bob Holland plans to stop delivering babies in remote John Day because of the increasing cost of malpractice insurance.

His insurance rates rose 50 percent last year and will go up another 50 percent this year. As a family physician, he paid $9,000 last year for malpractice insurance.....
