Reports of serious crimes jump 20 percent

Total number of arrests decline for third year

A certain percentage of criminals are part of any population, Bend Police Chief Andy Jordan says. And Bend's population sure has grown.

Last year, serious crimes - especially burglary and theft - reported to the Bend Police Department jumped 20.5 percent in 2000 - from 3,071 to 3,701 - according....
