A blanket of snow covered the high canyon country. Fresh deer and elk tracks crossed over open ridges, leading down into thickets of juniper and mountain mahogany.
The covey of mountain quail flew down the canyon, most of the birds landing in juniper trees. Shortly afterward they began calling....
