Out of the ring, but 'I'm back', Doctors were not sure if Jovany Medina would ever walk again after the up-and-coming amateur boxer took a blow to the head in March 2009 that left him in a coma. He stayed at St. Charles Bend for three months and continued to undergo therapy after returning home. Now Medina is working full time at Central Oregon Seed.

Kids' mini PPP: a raft of fun, Teams in the U.S. Bank Kids' Mini Pole Pedal Paddle start their wave of the competition by paddling a stretch of the Deschutes River on Sunday in Bend. Roughly 1,400 kids and adult team leaders signed up for the event, according to Rob MacGowan, director of recreation for Sunriver Resort.

Competition took many forms at the U. S. Bank Kids' Mini Pole Pedal Paddle on Sunday. Parents cheered loudly, and kids from first grade through sixth grade raced through the course. But a few kids knew they had won before they even started. Bizarre....MORE
