January

  • Oregon World Cup Sled Dog Race starts and ends at Mount Bachelor Ski Area, with numerous festivities throughout the week at different locations around Central Oregon. Early January.

  • Free Ski Day at Mount Bachelor where the admission "price" is a donation of canned food. Late January.

  • Central Oregon Boat Show at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. Late January - early February.

  • Central Oregon Bridal Expo at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. Late January - early February.

  • Bend Winterfest offers special events and games at Mount Bachelor and fireworks in downtown Bend. Early February.

  • Hoodoo Winter Carnival, special events at the ski area near Sisters. Early February.

  • Eagle Watch at Lake Billy Chinook, Cove Palisades State Park. Late February.

    March

  • First Friday Art Walk monthly gallery tour in Bend.

    April

  • Art Hop, at galleries throughout Bend, is a twice-a-year event similar to the monthly First Friday Art Walk, but even bigger and more festive.

  • Earth Day downtown fair and Procession of the Species Parade in Bend, in which people dress up as animals.

    May

  • Pole, Pedal, Paddle, one of the biggest multisport races in the U.S., begins at Mount Bachelor and ends in Bend. Mid-May.

June

  • Farmer's markets operate from June to September in Bend on Wednesday afternoons at Drake Park and on Friday afternoons at St. Charles Medical Center; in Prineville on Saturday mornings in the plaza next to city hall; in Madras on the first and third Saturdays at Sahalee Park, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; in Redmond, Tuesday afternoons at Centennial Park and Fridays from 3-7 p.m. at Redmond Greenhouse.

  • Saturday Market brings artisans together in an open-air market downtown. Through mid-September.

  • Sisters Rodeo, part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association tour, has been a tradition for more than 60 years.

  • Summer Sundays free concert series at Les Schwab Amphitheater.

  • Bite of Bend festival features food booths of more than 40 restaurants and vendors, plus two concert stages featuring musical entertainment all day. .

July

  • Old-Fashioned Fourth of July: Bend's celebration includes a pancake breakfast, pet parade, free concerts and fireworks shot from Pilot Butte light the night sky.

  • Summer Sundays free concert series at Les Schwab Amphitheater, most Sundays through August.

  • Saturday Market brings artisans together in an open-air market downtown. Through mid-September.

  • Cascade Cycling Classic: A week-long series of cycling races culminating with an evening criterium through the streets of downtown Bend.

  • Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show displays quilts on virtually every building in downtown Sisters.

  • Bend Summer Festival: The streets of downtown Bend close to traffic to accomodate this celebration of summer with music stages, art displays, food booths and a beer garden, as well as activities for children.

  • Sagebrush Classic: A charity golf tournament and an outdoor gala the next eventing featuring cuisine by well-known chefs from around the country, fine wines, microbrews, music and dancing.

  • Balloons over Bend Children's Festival, Riverbend Park.

  • Oregon High Desert Classic Horse Show: A multi-day competition for hunters and jumpers that draws contestants from throughout the West during two successive weeks.

  • Deschutes County Fair brings entertainment, 4-H competitions, rides and more to the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center.

August

  • Flashback Car Cruz, a classic car show.

  • Sunriver Quilt Show, hundreds of quilts on display.

  • Saturday Market brings artisans together in an open-air market downtown. Through mid-September.

  • Summer Sundays free concert series at Les Schwab Amphitheater, most Sundays through August.

  • Sunriver Music Festival.

October

  • Art Hop, at galleries throughout Bend, is a twice-a-year event similar to the monthly First Friday Art Walk, but even bigger and more festive.

  • Bend Fall Festival, a street fair in downtown Bend, features vendors, food booths, and entertainment for the whole family.

  • BendFilm Festival, at various locations in the area.

November

  • Ski areas open: Mount Bachelor and Hoodoo ski areas are open on Thanksgiving weekend if snow conditions permit.

  • Turkey Trot Fun Run at Sunriver Resort the day after Thanksgiving.

  • Grand Illumination holiday light display at Sunriver Resort begins the day after Thanksgiving and continues through the holiday season.

  • Starfest light display at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond opens for Thanksgiving and continues throughout the holiday season.

  • Sisters holiday parade and celebration is held in the afternoon on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

  • Redmond holiday parade and tree-lighting occurs at dusk in downtown Redmond the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

December

  • Tree-lighting festivities in downtown Bend, the first Friday in December.

  • Jingle Bell Fun Run in downtown Bend, the first Saturday in December.

  • Holiday Parade in downtown Bend the first Saturday in December.

  • Christmas Light Parade in downtown Madras the first Saturday in December.

  • Truckers' Light Parade: Decorated big rigs drive through La Pine the first Saturday in December.
