The ideal candidate for city editor will be amply experienced in leading reporters, directing coverage, initiating change and inspiring a night city editor and 11 reporters, including correspondents in Washington, D.C. and Salem, Oregon.
The right person will be able to:
1. Define the major narratives of Central Oregon and, if necessary, redefine our news beats to tell the stories of interest to our readers.
2. Collaborate with reporters and the visual team to identify the top stories and prioritize their coverage while also working on long-term investigative reports and special projects.
3. Demonstrate a solid record of creative thinking, idea generation, supervision and journalistic excellence.
4. Define the components of an outstanding news story and instill the highest qualities of reporting and writing in the reporting staff.
5. Integrate technology into daily tasks, including computer assisted reporting as well as coordination with the web team to produce online components complimentary to the print version.
The Bulletin is a family-owned newspaper with a daily circulation of 33,000 and growing, located in Bend, population 80,000, in Central Oregon's high desert.

The Bulletin is seeking an energetic and experienced copy editor/designer to work in a fully paginated, content-oriented and collegial environment. Successful candidates will be able to produce artistic news and feature covers and inside pages, select wire stories, write excellent headlines and challenge and improve local copy. The ideal fit will have computer fluency in DTI, Adobe InDesign, InCopy, PhotoShop and Illustrator.
