OSU coach hasn’t heard from NW

Published: March 19. 2013 4:00AM PST

Craig Robinson has been mentioned in connection with the open men’s basketball coach position at Northwestern.

Robinson, the Oregon State men’s basketball coach, is from Chicago and was an assistant under Bill Carmody at Northwestern from 2000-06, so his name has landed on some candidate lists.

Carmody was fired Saturday after 13 years at Northwestern. The Wildcats went 13-19 in the 2012-13 season.

Robinson said he has not been contacted by Northwestern about the job.

“I have not heard from them," Robinson said Monday. “I haven’t been contacted, nothing."

When the head coach position opened up at DePaul a few years ago, Robinson found himself on that list, so he’s not surprised.

“This one’s a little different because it’s Northwestern," he said. “But anything that comes up with Chicago on it and people are always mentioning my name."

The Beavers went 14-18 this season and struggled in Pac-12 play, so Robinson said he’s not really expecting a call.
