Cold front likely to bring wet weather

A sunny start to the workweek is in store for Bend, but rain is likely coming.

Skies today should be clear, and the high temperature is expected to be over 50 degrees in town, according to the National Weather Service. Clouds will likely gather tonight, and rain should fall after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

“There is just going to be a little bit of a break," said Ann Adams, an assistant forecaster for the weather service in Pendleton.

A cold front is bringing in the wet weather, and it follows another cold front that brought light snowfall Saturday night and early Sunday morning to parts of Central Oregon, Adams said. Between the cold fronts is a warm front, resulting in the sunny and relatively warm weather expected today.

The high today should be 54 in Redmond and Prineville, and 55 in Madras, according to the weather service. La Pine should have a high of 50.

Rain is expected to continue Wednesday around Central Oregon, according to the weather service. The cold front should arrive Wednesday, with rain possibly giving way that night to snow in Bend, as temperatures should be in the high 20s.

Wednesday also happens to be the first day of spring on the calendar, despite the wintry weather that’s expected.
