• Ann Willishas joined The Buccola Group in Bend. Willis attended the University of Oregon and has experience in media advertising. She helped launch Bend Living Magazine, worked for Oregon Home Magazine and worked in marketing at Brasada Ranch. The last few years she worked with her husband running Willis Builders.
• Dr. Timothy Deboodt, of Prineville, recently received the Outstanding Achievement Award for research/academia at the Society for Range Management's annual meeting. This award is given to individuals and groups, working on rangelands, for outstanding achievements. Deboodt works to educate landowners, lawmakers and students on natural resource management. He presents his research and experiences at SRM annual meetings and has received the Trail Boss Award.
• James Foster, Karen Koppel and Pam Wakefield are new board members at BendFilm. Foster is a professor of political science at OSU-Cascades and was previously the department chair for 12 years at the main OSU campus in Corvallis. Koppel is an event professional and architect. She has worked on Olympic Games, Super Bowls and Pro Bowls. Wakefield owned a local graphics firm for 20 years before her retirement in 2010. In 2012 she served on the BendFilm selection committee.
• Pat Ackley has been elected president of the board for the Bethlehem Inn in Bend. She previously served on the board for two years and served as chairwoman of the governance and program committees. She is a retired organization development consultant and local community activist.
• The Bethlehem Inn has elected four new board members: Pete Sandgren, former data management company owner; Hugh Palcic, assistant general manager for Sunriver Owners Association; Bruce Cummings, retired TV journalist and writer; and Cassie Giddings, Bend 2030 Vision board chair.
• John Rivera has joined the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce as the new events coordinator. Rivera previously worked as the guest services director for Big Lake Youth Camp and has experience working as a head chef, baker, concert series planner and philanthropy assistant, as well as running his own lifestyle consulting company. He attended Union College, where he studied English. He has worked in journalism and publishing as a copy and content writer, has worked as a personal and company blogger and has published as both a religion and fashion columnist.
• Marlene Alexander, of Bend, has been invited to attend the Second National Summit: Arts, Health and Well-being Across the Military Continuum at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Alexander is the arts coordinator for Partners in Care in Bend and is the owner of Creative Arts, a children's art school in Bend. She also serves on the board of directors of the Global Alliance for Arts and Health, headquartered in Washington, D.C.
