Juniper Swim & Fitness Center in Bend expanded its workout space last week by opening an 800-square-foot functional fitness room. Located by the fitness classrooms, weight room and locker rooms, the fitness space is intended for stretching as well as core, balance and strength training. It features equipment such as floor mats, exercise balls, therapeutic bands and some weights.
“The functional fitness room offers a quiet, dedicated space for stretching and functional training while at the same time freeing up space in our current weight and cardio room. It’s a needed asset for patrons, especially at peak use times," said facility manager Bob Smith.
The space was previously used for offices, which were relocated elsewhere in the facility.
