Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies arrested three people on a variety of charges, including probation and parole warrants, following a car chase early Monday that ended in an east Bend cul-de-sac.
A patrol deputy signaled a white Chevrolet sedan to stop on the Bend Parkway, U.S. Highway 97, at 2:52 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. The driver sped away and the deputy gave chase, following the Chevrolet southbound to the Butler Market Road off-ramp and back onto the Parkway northbound to Empire Avenue and then east, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Bilyeu.
Meanwhile, two Oregon State Police troopers and a Bend Police officer joined the call. Reaching speeds of 80 mph, the pursuit entered Lava Ridges subdivision on Brookstone Lane and turned onto Blue Bush Court. The Chevrolet driver, identified by Bilyeu as Michael B. Monson, 27, of Redmond, crashed the car in a driveway and fled on foot; passengers Brandi Lyn Lindquist, 22, and Benjamin R. Watson, 23, both of Bend, stayed with the car, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The crash resulted in minor property damage.
A Bend Police dog tracked and found Monson hiding in a backyard about two blocks away on Marsh Orchard Drive, where he was arrested, according to Bilyeu’s report.
He was held on warrants alleging parole and probation violations and on charges on eluding a police officer; methamphetamine possession, manufacture and distribution; and reckless driving. Lindquist was held for a probation violation and possession of methamphetamine and Watson on a parole warrant. The parole and probation warrants are no bail warrants.
Little or no traffic was interrupted and no injuries resulted, according to Bilyeu.
