Galleries and cafes in downtown Bend and the Old Mill District will stay open late today, from about 5-9 p.m., for First Friday Gallery Walk. In addition to art displays, the event features free wine, hors d’oeuvres and, in some places, live music.
In a collaboration with Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Franklin Crossing, 550 N.W. Franklin Ave., will host the second annual art and contemporary quilt exhibit “Fabrications — The Art of Quilting," juried by Pat Clark and Donna Rice. Appetizers from Noi Thai will be served, with music provided by jazz musician George Bouhey and his students.
“Mountains & Motels — from the Majestic to the Mundane," an exhibit of oil paintings by Janice Druian, opens along with a show of hand-built ceramics by Nancy Dasen tonight at Tumalo Art Co., 450 S.W. Powerhouse Drive in the Old Mill District.
The Oxford Hotel lobby, 10 N.W. Minnesota Ave., will celebrate First Friday from 6-8 p.m. with collages by Kaycee Anseth. On the hotel’s lower level during those same hours, the public can get acquainted with The Muse Conference, a three-day event inspired in part by Women’s History Month.
