Trail-building day set for Radlands

Published: February 27. 2013 4:00AM PST

Redmond bicycle shop Trinity Bikes is hosting a trail-building day March 9 at the Radlands, the network of singletrack trails on the northeast side of Redmond.

Volunteers will meet at the trailhead (1859 N.E. Maple Ave.) at 8:30 a.m. for snacks and coffee, and the workday will begin at 9 a.m.

Those interested in participating are asked to wear close-toed shoes and gloves.

After the trail building, lunch will be provided, as well as soda or beer.

The Radlands — officially called the Northeast Redmond Trail Complex — project calls for about 30 miles of cycling, running and hiking trails to be built east of Redmond.

Only a fraction of those trails are currently built, starting from a trailhead at the High Desert Sports Complex on Maple Avenue.

The Radlands project is a collaborative effort of the Central Oregon Trail Alliance, the Redmond Area Park and Recreation District, and corporate sponsors.
