Gerry Greenfield

June, 1921 - Jan. 27, 2013

Gerry passed away January 27, 2013. She was born in June 1921 to Florence and George Middlehurst in Colton, CA.

Gerry grew up in Nampa, Idaho, spending her time reading and in years of ballet. After graduating from Nampa High School, she attended the College of Idaho. She graduated in 1943 with a B.A. in English. It was there she met the man who would later become her husband, Fred Greenfield. She taught school in Idaho and Oregon, and was a substitute teacher when she and Fred settled in Bend to raise their family. When Fred retired in 1976, he enjoyed antique bottle collecting. Gerry began collecting patterned glass- ware to go with the pieces she had received from her grandparents. In 2002, Gerry moved to Eugene to be close to her daughter, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She was a resident at the Eugene Hotel Retirement Center where she lived life to the fullest. Gerry always enjoyed her sports, from watching her son, Alan, in track, to her favorite baseball team (Mariners) to football (U of O).

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Fred Greenfield. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy, of Eugene; a son, Alan, of Bend; three grandchildren, Tiffany and Rick of Eugene, and Forest of Bend; seven great-grandchildren; and many other loved friends and extended family.

A private family service will be held in Bend, OR at a later date. Gerry will join her husband at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, The Cascade Chapel Mausoleum - alcove of Hope. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Avamere and Signature Hospice for their loving care of Gerry.
