Rex Scouten, 88: Former household staff director at the White House and onetime Secret Service agent who worked for 10 presidents, from Harry Truman to Bill Clinton. Died Wednesday in Fairfax, Va.
Alexei German, 74: Russian director known for grim, hypnotic films that captured the darkness of the Soviet era and especially Stalin’s rule. Died Thursday in St. Petersburg.
Wojciech Inglot, 57: Polish chemist and businessman who founded and ran a cosmetics company, Inglot, that grew into an international success with nearly 400 stores in 50 countries. Died Saturday in Przemysl, Poland.
