A Sisters man with a real estate business in Lane County was sentenced Tuesday to 41 months in federal prison and fined on his conviction on three counts related to tax evasion, the U.S. Department of Justice announced this morning.
A jury in federal court, Eugene, in June 2012 found Randall Blair Johnson, 54, guilty of three counts each of income tax evasion and willful failure to file tax returns and one count of witness tampering. In addition to a prison term, Blair must pay $260,536 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service and a $50,000 fine.
The U.S. Attorney for Oregon, Amanda Marshall, described Johnson, a partner in TR Hunter Real Estate, Florence, as a tax protestor “who mouthed protest rhetoric, but his real motivation was greed."
Chief U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken ordered Johnson to report to prison April 6.
