McMenamins hosts Jon Wayne, Brothers Gow

Published: January 25. 2013 4:00AM PST

McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 N.W. Bond St., Bend) is known for its free Wednesday/Thursday shows that’ll brighten your midweek faster than you can say “Cajun tots."

Next week is no different. Two solid out-of-town bands will roll through Father Luke’s Room and try to make locals shimmy and possibly slosh their beers.

First up Wednesday is Jon Wayne and The Pain, a Minneapolis band with a taut, Midwestern take on beachy reggae, pop, rock and dub with an electronic twist. You can hear their most recent album, as well as the band’s other releases, at www .jonwayneandthepain.com.

Then on Thursday, it’s time for a visit from Brothers Gow, a band originally from Flagstaff, Ariz., but now based in San Diego. The group’s music is an amalgam of funk, rock and improv, and its live show is boosted by Brothers Gow’s custom-built light show. Trippy! Learn more at www .brothersgow.com.

Both shows start at 7 p.m. and both are free. To keep up with the music schedule at McMenamins, visit www .mcmenamins.com.
