Jan. 22, 1964 - Jan. 14, 2013
Marchelle Dinette Maloney, 48, of Terrebonne, OR, passed away in La Grande, OR, on Monday, January 14, 2013.
Marchelle was born on January 22, 1964 in Redmond, OR. In her youth, she participated in pee wee rodeo and was involved in rodeo throughout her life.
Marchelle graduated from Redmond High School with honors and was heavily immersed in sports and the cheer squad. She then attended Portland State University, Oregon State University and UC Davis, obtaining a degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Administrative Justice. Marchelle went to work in the California Justice System for five years, after which she moved back to Central Oregon to work in Deschutes County as a parole officer. Marchelles greatest passion was her two children, Calum and Rachael.
Despite struggling with congestive heart failure, Marchelle found creative ways to be an encouragement to others, who were working through their own struggles of life, through Facebook. As one Facebook friend stated:
"Marchelle and I never met in person. I talked to her on here, she showed me how to be positive and always look at the brighter side of life. I have enjoyed the many months of dialogue that she had with friends that loved her so and the way that she would post positive little quips on my comments that made me laugh and look at life a little different. I recently thanked her for showing me that no matter what happens determination and positivity will see me through the rough times and I just hope she did realize how much I did appreciate her. I also don't know her kids but they are in my prayers tonight and will be forever I think they lost an angel today. To Marchelles friends and family: thank you for sharing her with me at the time I needed someone positive in my life."
No ones life can be summed up on just a single page, and definitely not Marchelle Dinette Maloney. She was talented, athletic, beautiful, quirky, ornery, kind, compassionate, fun, loving, caring, and humane. She accomplished much in a life that was far too short. She will be missed, mourned and celebrated by all who loved her.
Marchelle is survived by her children, Rachael and Calum; and many immediate and extended family members.
It was Marchelles wish to have her body donated to Oregon Health and Science University for research. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to: Anatomical Research Fund, OHSU, or the charity of your choice.
A memorial service is being planned for a later time.
