Ford suffered the injury while freeskiing Tuesday in La Clusaz.

According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilkens, Ford was treated on the scene then evacuated by helicopter to Annecy where he underwent surgery overnight.

Ford is expected to remain in Annecy until he is stable for transport back to the USA.
