When your inbox is open to any band with an email account, you see good band names and bad ones, but rarely one that stands out among the pixels. So kudos to Portland’s Giraffe Dodgers, a laid-back bluegrassy band who picked a great one. These four guys do eclectic acoustic music, mixing a bit of this and that into their ’grass. But what sets them apart from the parade of jam-warriors that come through Bend is their slightly more mellow and traditional string-band sound. That’s nice to hear these days. They’ll be at McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 N.W. Bond St., Bend) on Wednesday. 7 p.m. Free.
