Two inches to fall on Bend; high winds forecast

Published: December 20. 2012 11:21AM PST

A midday snowstorm should hit Bend today, dropping about 2 inches of snow.

More snow should fall south of town and the highway passes across the Cascades, said Rob Brooks, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

“It is going to be more the southern regions and La Pine that get the snow," he said.

The snow should start before noon and continue to around 4 p.m., Brooks said.

The storm may also bring strong southwest winds to Bend, with sustained winds around 30 mph and gusts up to 47 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature today should be 38 degrees.

Snow is also likely to fall tonight and it remains in the weather service forecast into next week.
