Peter Struck, 69: Former German defense minister and vehement opponent of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.Died Wednesday.
Hal Schaefer, 87: Jazz piano virtuoso and vocal coach to film stars; he gained notoriety due to his brief affair with Marilyn Monroe around the time of her divorce from Joe DiMaggio. Died Dec. 8 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Alex Moulton, 92: Inventor of a small-wheeled bicycle that began a trend in the 1960s and was a precursor for the collapsible, portable bikes of today. Died Dec. 9 in England.
