Popular Kiwanis candy sale relocates

Published: December 13. 2012 4:00AM PST

The Bend Kiwanis Club has moved its holiday candy sales from the Safeway parking lot at 642 N.E. Third St., Bend, to the Murray & Holt car lot at 181 N.E. Franklin Ave., at the corner of Third and Franklin.

For approximately 25 years, the local service club has sold See’s candy at the Safeway location, said Ted Lyster, a Kiwanis board member and past president. This year, the lot owner asked the club to move; Murray & Holt volunteered space on its lot, Lyster said.

The travel trailer from which the club sells candy is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

The candy sales benefit a number of charities and activities in and around Bend, including the Bend holiday parades, Central Oregon Veteran’s Outreach, Ronald McDonald House and others, according to Lyster.
