Rainfall will return to Central Oregon

While it should be mostly sunny and dry in Bend today, rain and possibly snow could fall later this week.

The rain could fall Tuesday and the snow could come Wednesday, said Josh Smith, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

“We are not looking at really high chances," he said. “We are just looking at a chance of snow."

The high today should be 45 degrees, according to the weather service. The forecast shows the daily highs dropping lower each day through Thursday. Tuesday should be 44, Wednesday 38 and Thursday 35. Lows throughout the week should be in the low to mid-20s.

Sun is expected to return again Thursday, according to the weather service.

After the rain last week, Smith said, the weekend in Bend was dry thanks to the Cascades.

“All of the precipitation (came) out of the air as it (traveled) through the mountains," he said.

The coming weekend could offer a change, with a chance of snow in town Saturday and Sunday, according to the weather service. Highs this weekend look to be in the mid-30s, and lows will again be in the 20s.
