The American Cancer Society is searching for new volunteers to help with a program that provides transportation to and from medical appointments for cancer patients.
The Road to Recovery program includes volunteers who donate their time as well as the use of their vehicle. The patients either have no personal transportation or are too sick to drive themselves. Many of the patients in the program require weekly or even daily transportation. Organizers say there is a high need for volunteers.
Those interested in volunteering must have a current, valid Oregon driver’s license, a good driving record, the ability to pass a criminal background check, access to a reliable and safe vehicle and current auto insurance. The volunteers must be in reasonably good health and complete an application and an online orientation.
Volunteers can choose a schedule that works best for them.
