Broken Top hosts Huckle, Grant Farm

Published: December 07. 2012 4:00AM PST

Bend’s Broken Top Bottle Shop & Ale Cafe is becoming quite the hotspot for live music.

Its Brews & Bands series features (mostly) local bands on (most) Sundays, and the place seems to be hosting other shows on other nights more and more often. Keep up with the happenings at www.btbsbend.com.

This weekend, the shop is the site of the Westside Wassail, a Song & Cider Fest, which means beer and cider tastings tonight through Sunday, plus Greg Botsford and 2nd Hand Soldiers rocking out on Saturday and Bill Valenti playing Sunday.

Tonight, though, is when the touring bands stop in. Huckle, from California, features Simon Kurth (formerly of Poor Man’s Whiskey) on guitars and vocals and plays groove-based jam-rock, a la Ben Harper or John Butler. They’ll play at about 6 p.m.

And at 8 p.m., it’s time for Grant Farm, a Colorado band featuring former members of Leftover Salmon and the Emmitt-Nershi Band that keeps its rock ’n’ roll solidly rooted in the worlds of country and blues.

Tonight’s show will double as a food drive for a local food bank. Donate two items and you get a free CD!

Huckle and Grant Farm; 6 tonight; free; Broken Top Bottle Shop & Ale Cafe, 1740 N.W. Pence Lane, Bend; www.btbs bend.com or 541-728-0703.
