Irene Mercado Ponte, of Redmond, succumbed Nov. 17, 2012, after a long illness. She was 70.
Irene was the youngest daughter of parents, Alfonso Mercado and Esther Rivera of Brooklyn, NY.
Irene married the love of her life, Frank Ponte Jr. in 1959. Irene and Frank moved to Redmond in 2006, where she devoted time as a volunteer at a local assisted living facility, where Frank passed away in 2011.
Irene is survived by her three children, Debrah Shearer and Mike Ponte, both of Klamath Falls, and daughter, Annette Witzel of Redmond; grandchildren, Stephanie Potter & Jerry Shearer Jr and their spouses; great-grandchildren, Melanie and John Jr., all of Klamath Falls; special nieces, Magdalene Mercado & Lisa Marie Weyh; and numerous nieces and nephews in Idaho and Southern California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Desert Meadows Manor in Redmond, OR on Dec. 22, at 2:00 p.m.
Donations may be made in her honor to St. Vincent DePaul of Redmond.
