Airport sign turns out to be a little too costly

EUGENE — It’s back to the drawing board for a new entry sign at the Eugene Airport.

The city had planned to replace a decades-old sign with a 60-foot long concrete, tile and aluminum sign with basalt columns.

The Register-Guard reported the lowest bid from a contractor was $146,000 — nearly $50,000 more than budgeted.
