SALEM — Oregon’s terrorism information center in Salem may be drastically cut back or closed by a reduction in funding.
The state Department of Justice says an expected $391,000 federal grant has not been awarded. Without it the center can maintain its current level of operation only until March.
It’s called the Oregon Terrorism Information Threat Assessment Network and it serves as a clearinghouse for terrorism-related police investigations.
The Statesman Journal reports it has four employees who analyze information and send out alerts.
The center was opened in 2007. It’s one of 77 in the country funded through the Department of Homeland Security.
