• Cross Crusade wraps up: Three Bend residents won their respective classes in Sunday’s Cross Crusade event, staged at Portland International Raceway in Portland. The event was the final one in the eight-race 2012 Cross Crusade series. Lance Haidet (junior men), Sarah Max (masters women 35+ A) and Andrew Steiner (masters men 35+ A) all rode to victory. Just behind Haidet, Cameron Beard (second) and Javier Colton (third) made it a Bend sweep of the top three spots in the junior men’s class, while Serena Bishop Gordon was second in the women’s Category A class.

For a listing of top-10 Central Oregon finishers in Sunday’s Cross Crusade event, see Cycling Central Scoreboard. For complete race results, go to obra.org.

• CXmas Party on tap: The second annual CXmas Party has been scheduled for Dec. 6 in Bend.

Proceeds from the event, which is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. two days before the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross makes a stop in Bend for the Deschutes Brewery Cup, will go to the CXmas Junior Fund. The nonprofit fund awards travel stipends to junior-age Oregon cyclocross riders who will be attending the 2013 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships, scheduled for early January in Madison, Wis. The inaugural CXmas Party generated more than $1,400 for local junior cyclists.

The party will be held once again at Powered by Bowen, 143 S.W. Century Drive in Bend. A silent auction will be staged, and food and beverages will be served. A minimum donation of $5 at the door is suggested.

For more information, contact Bart Bowen at 541-585-1500.

• Central Oregon youth wins twice at USGP: Bend’s Cameron Beard rode to victory in both of his races at the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross Derby City Cup, staged Nov. 10-11 in Louisville, Ky.

Beard, 14 and a member of the Bend Endurance Academy, won the boys 15-16 age division both days. In the Saturday race, he defeated Boulder, Colo., resident Eric Brunner by 10 seconds. In the Sunday race, he turned back another Oregonian, Eugene’s Sam Rosenberg, to win by seven seconds.

Beard is scheduled to race in the USGP Deschutes Brewery Cup in Bend on Dec. 8-9, as well as in the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships, slated for Jan. 9-13 in Madison, Wis.

• Call for volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help at the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross Deschutes Brewery Cup, scheduled for Dec. 8-9 in Bend. Volunteer shifts are available Dec. 3-10, from the Monday before the event through the Monday after. The most significant need is on the race days. Volunteer tasks include course setup, registration, course marshaling and course breakdown. Shifts will be three to four hours in length. To volunteer, contact Alison Halpin at Halpin.ali@gmail.com.
