Jim Drewes, age 70, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was born December 20, 1941, in San Jose, CA, to Frieda and Ernest Drewes. He was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School followed by college. He married his wife, Joan, on June 15, 1963, in San Jose. He worked as a field engineer on mass spectrometers, displaying a wonderful knack for troubleshooting and repairing all sorts of things. Jim truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; traveling with his wife, camping with his family and friends and spending time outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan; his children, Diane (Chuck) Forslund, Pam (Craig) Olson and Jeff (Emma) Drewes; sisters, Dolores Chapman and Marilyn (Bob) Gross; grandchildren, Maggie, Marybeth, Gabrielle, Bayasaa, Sydney and Ben as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Family, friends, and others whose lives Jim touched are invited to Deschutes Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, for a graveside service.
