Leah A. Loop

June 22, 1916 - Nov. 14, 2012

Leah A. Loop was born June 22, 1916, in Hamburg Township, Jackson County, North Carolina to Charles and Jane Moss, and died November 14, 2012, in Beaverton, OR, where she had moved to be closer to her surviving son.

Leah and her family left North Carolina in 1928, and migrated to Hamilton, Washington. Her mother died one year later and she left school to take care of her two younger brothers. She married Wendell (Curley) Loop in 1935, and in 1944 they moved to Prineville, OR, where they made their home for the next 60 plus years.

In the 1950s, they opened Prineville Loggers Supply. Leah kept the books. She volunteered with Ochoco School PTA and also served as a voting poll worker for many years. She was a wonderful cook and was widely known for her pies, cakes, fried chicken and Southern hospitality.

Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, and sons, John and Roger; and is survived by her son, Stan Loop of Lake Oswego, and grandchildren, Kristin Johnson of Seattle, Ken Loop of Portland, Wendy Mooney of Prineville, Lisa Loop of Park City, Utah, Brian Loop of Beaverton, Christopher Loop of Phoenix Arizona, and Craig Loop of Acampo, California; and eight great-grandchildren.

Honoring her request, there will be no services.

Arrangements are in the care of Prineville Funeral Home, 541-447-6459.
